Portland’s Profile Theatre is presenting the works of Neil Simon for its entire 2008-09 season.
The first fully staged production in a year of staged readings and full productions is Simon’s comic fable “Fools,” which opens Oct. 18.
Directed by Profile Theatre Artistic Director Jane Ungar, “Fools” takes place in a Ukrainian village whose citizens have been cursed with stupidity for 200 years. An ambitious young teacher comes to town and is determined to break the curse.
The family-friendly production runs through Nov. 16 with 8 p.m. performances on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. matinees on Sundays.
Ticket prices range from $12 to $28.
All performances take place at Theatre! Theatre!, 3430 SE Belmont Street.
The Sunday matinee on Oct. 19 will feature a Mat-Chat immediately following the performance. Theater goers are encouraged to stay and participate in discussions with the director and members of the cast.
