Jewish hip-hop artist Y-Love will perform with Diwon in a concert presented by Oregon Hillel, The Foundation for Jewish Campus Life and the Jewish Student Union on Nov. 20 on the University of Oregon campus.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in Gerlinger Hall/Woodruff Gym.
Tickets at the door are students $7; community $15, with group rates available for 10 or more.
Y-Love’s new album “This is Babylon” shows Y-Love (Yitz Jordan) is part of the new guard of hip-hop revolutionaries.
Describing his style as “global hip hop,” Y-Love seamlessly intertwines English, Arabic, Hebrew, Latin and ancient Aramaic. He combines ethereal scripture with gritty social consciousness, reflecting his own life-changing conversion to Orthodox Judaism.
Y-Love is a new sound in hip-hop, blending urban and world music to spread his message of social consciousness and Judaism. Speaking from a Hasidic background, Y-Love’s music has many Jewish references, but manages to stay true to the Hip Hop style with tough beats and creative lyrics.
