B'nai B'rith Camp's JWteam/Teen Connection program announces
'A Taste of Summer' weekend retreat for 6th - 8th graders
B. B. Camp and BBYO's JWteam/Teen Connection program to engage tweens and teens in social action and social activities starts now!

JWest Team/Teen Connection – the new collaborative program focusing on Jewish values in action between B'nai B'rith Camp and BBYO – next weekend sends off sixth- through eighth-graders for a tease of summer.

Make that “A taste of summer with B. B. Camp and BBYO's JWTeam.” Taking place at B. B. Camp, on Devils Lake, the April 16 through April 18 weekend retreat costs $150; for JWest participants, a $75 discount is available. It's open for every Jewish tween and teen in the Pacific Northwest.

Special activities include Shabbat, sports, team building, tie-dying, s'mores, a bonfire and more.
As for all of the year's nine JWTeam/Teen Connection events, the goal next weekend, too, is “to build friendships and develop strong connections with Jewish middle schoolers all over the Northwest,” said Suzy Sostrin, Portland BBYO city director and regional programs associate.
“JWTeam/Teen Connection is a step above because it gives young teens an early opportunity to enjoy fulfilling Jewish experiences that build character as they build friendships,” Sostrin said.

This new JWteam/Teen Connection venture is made possible by grants from the Foundation for Jewish Camp and the Jim Joseph Foundation. At its core, the venture promotes safe, enriching programming, engaging activities and meaningful involvement in young teens' communities, explained Rachel Rothstein, B. B. Camp's associate director.

Through participation in social events, athletic competitions and community-service projects, young teens will practice tzedakah, be exposed to new ideas, experiences and their budding spirituality, helping them “to determine what being Jewish really means,” Sostrin added.
B’nai B’rith Camp, located on a lakeside campus on the scenic Oregon coast, is the premier Jewish resident camp in the Pacific Northwest.

Since 1921, the camp has been dedicated to providing the best summer experience for today's campers while preparing them to be tomorrow's community leaders. B. B. Camp strives to teach the values and ethics of Jewish living by example, experience and creative expression. B’nai B’rith Camp has consistently proven to be a great place for youth to learn about themselves, their Jewish identity, their environment and how to relate to others.

B'nai B'rith Camp offers a wide range of activities, including arts and crafts, Jewish enrichment, athletics, waterskiing, sailing, canoeing, hydro-tubing, swimming in the heated, outdoor pool, dancing, nature, singing, high- and low-ropes challenge courses, leadership, community service, drama, creative writing, Shabbat celebrations, overnights and trips.

B'nai B'rith Camp, a JCC- affiliated camp, is licensed by the State of Oregon and accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA).
B. B. Camp offers one 1-week session and two 3-week sessions for its overnight camp. Additionally, there are seven individual 1-week sessions of day camp for Lincoln County residents. B’nai B’rith Camp is under the guidance of the trained and experienced B.B. Camp staff.

Yom Hazikaron for Israeli soldiers. Commemorate Israel Memorial Day, honoring those who have given their lives for the State of Israel. ceremony will take place 8:30-9:30 p.m. at the MJCC.
