A bereavement support group sponsored by National Council of Jewish Women begins in February.
The group will be led by Arleen Slive, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 15 years of experience providing support and counseling to individuals and families in Portland. She has worked in hospitals and nursing facilities with emphasis on geriatric practice.
Group members will have an opportunity to share their stories and make sense of the grieving process. They will also address transitions and setting goals.
The grief support group welcomes widows and widowers, siblings and adult children. It will meet on Thursdays at 4 p.m. for six weeks starting Feb. 12 at 8885 SW Canyon Road. The cost is $25.
NCJW’s Portland section held a widow/widower support group for many years. Eve Rosenfeld, NCJW co-vice president of community service said this support group will have a more clinical focus than the former program.
