With Chabad of Oregon’s move to a new Chabad House just down the street, the Everything Jewish Store has a bit more room to expand its offerings.
Art, food and products from the Dead Sea are the largest expansion areas.
“When we started the store, we had two to three shelves of stuff,” said Rabbi Chayim Mishulovin, who oversees store operations. “Over the past three and a half years, we’ve grown to about 10 times the volume.”
Now with room for a refrigerator, the store will begin selling on a retail level products previously available in Portland only in cases through NW Kosher.
“We want to make it easier to keep kosher because of price,” said Mishulovin.
Additionally the store carries Danishes, rugelach, cakes and candies that are not available elsewhere in Portland.
In addition to selling art from artists out of the area, the store wants to give local artists the opportunity to sell their art on consignment.
If the store doesn’t have what you’re looking for, don’t worry. Mishulovin will hand you a flyer listing all the other Jewish gift shops in town.
Everything Jewish is at 6684 SW Capitol Highway, Portland. For more information, call 503-246-5437.
