Artist Susan Kuznitsky thinks her husband, Steve Heiteen, is the only Jewish home remodeler in the upcoming 2009 Tour of Remodeled Homes set for the weekend of March 14 and 15.
The Tour of Remodeled Homes showcases projects throughout the Portland area. Home owners can see the kinds of transformations that can be made to an existing home in an economic time when finding a new home may not be an option.
Heiteen’s company, Portland Remodel, will show a home it recently completed in the Mountain Park area of Lake Oswego.
Kukznitsky said the nine-month project was a whole-house remodel that was guided by the home owner’s vision
“She wanted it to look like a beach house. It feels like an elegant beach house. This is a great house to show, people will remember this house,” she said.
Heiteen and Kuznitsky, members of Congregation Neveh Shalom, have operated Portland Remodel for 13 years.
Heiteen was named Remodeler of the Year in 2005 by the Remodelers Council of the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland.
During the home tour, the Portland Remodel staff will be on site to answer questions.
The tour is the project of the Remodelers’ Council. There are 18 homes in the tour, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
Tickets are required. They are $17.50. Learn more about the tour online at www.remodeltourportland.com or call the council at 503-684-1880.
