Women will have the opportunity to celebrate women who have been significant in their lives at the March 22 Women’s Seder in Vancouver, Wash.
Hosted by Congregation Kol Ami and the Shalom Chapter of Hadassah, the seder will begin at 5:30 p.m., at the First Congregtional Church, 1220 NE 68th St., Vancouver (off I-5, exit 4).
Rabbi Elizabeth Dunsker will lead the Seder, accompanied by Cantor Barbara Slader.
“Our seder will be a special evening very different from the regular celebration of Passover that Jews will experience in April when the holiday begins,” said Dunsker. “This is an evening for women to learn more about ourselves, each other, and the Jewish heroines who paved the way for us. We will focus especially on Miriam (Moses’ older sister) and her contributions to our Exodus from Egypt and slavery. There will be singing, storytelling, study and prayer. Also a delicious meal and plenty of celebrating.”
Participants are asked to bring something from a woman who has been inspirational to them.
“Our evening is about celebrating women and remembering our important contributions to Jewish history,” added Dunsker. “As well, we celebrate our personal histories and the women who taught us important lessons throughout our lives.”
Tickets are $18.50 for members of either sponsoring organization or $23 for non-members. Children ages 6-12 are $11.50. Reservations are due March 12.
