A kosher food area will be available for the first time in Rose Garden history during the Portland Trailblazers and Chabad of Oregon Hanukah Jewish Celebration Night on the third night of Hanukah.
The Dec. 23 Blazers vs. Denver Nuggets basketball match up will feature special ticket prices for those purchasing Hanukah promotion tickets, as well as a menorah lighting and special pre- and post-game celebrations.
“We are very excited about having the opportunity to host Hanukah Jewish Celebration Night. Teaming up with Chabad of Oregon is something we enjoyed last season and look forward to taking part in again this year,” said Sarah Mensah, Chief Marketing Officer, Portland Trail Blazers.
A pregame event with live music, dancing and children’s activities will begin at 6 p.m. by the fan stage. The kosher food stand, nicknamed “Latkes and Layups” will be near the fan stage selling latkes, kosher hot dogs, drinks and a variety of other foods, said Chaim Wilhelm who coordinates Chabad’s part of the event.
The game begins at 7 p.m.
A menorah lighting featuring Jerome Kersey from the Blazer Alumni Ambassador Team will take place on the concourse at halftime. The lighting will be projected on the large scoreboards over center court.
Promotion tickets are $15 for the red section, $22 for the purple section and $46 for the yellow section. Groups buying 10 or more tickets together will have their name flashed on the big screen during the game.
Those buying the Hanukah promo tickets also will receive a baseball-style Blazers’ Hanukah cap.
Hanukah Jewish Celebration Night tickets are available at the Everything Jewish Store, 6684 SW Capitol Highway. Tickets are also available online at tickets.trailblazers.com/deals/. Enter promo code Chanukah.
