PROUD PARENT—During a visit to Congregation Kesser Israel Feb. 24, Ephraim Bluth described his experiences as a parent of eight children who have served in the Israeli Defense Force, six of them as officers in elite units. “My wife and I are in awe of our children and their commitment to the country,” he said. Bluth, who moved to Israel for idealistic reasons in 1971, said that he and his wife Shoshana were able to impart a sense of idealism to their children. Rabbi Kenneth Brodkin said that Bluth shared a number of moving personal stories, including the story of his son Netanel who was injured in a terrorist attack on a Yeshiva in 2002, and recovered completely.
