Sum Fun Juz, the third annual Dec. 24 party for young Jewish adults, drew 162 people for an evening of music, comedy and kosher snacks.
Sponsored by Portland Jewish Events and the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland, 16 people participated in organizing the event.
“I’d say half (of the 162 attendess) were new... or people that only come to this party each year and not to anything else that I do,” said lead organizer Jodi Berris. “We served 26 kosher pizzas, ranging from (vegetarian versions of) barbecue chicken to Canadian bacon and cheese, as well as fortune cookies, and other snacks. The first alcoholic beverage was included in the $10 price.”
The annual events have included Maccabbees and Microbrews—Hanukkah and Hops at Tuck’s Brewery in 2005, Silent Night....Not! in 2006 at Bar XV, and Sum Fun Juz in 2007, again at Bar XV.
Music was provided by DJ Redi Jedi and musical comedy was done by Michael Rockstar.
