Portland’s traditional first-Thursday celebration of art gallery openings will include a new show at the Oregon Jewish Museum.

On Thursday, Feb. 7, the OJM will open an exhibit of works by the 12 members of ORA, a local Jewish arts group for women. The museum will host a reception that evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The exhibit, entitled “Exodus: Our Journeys,” is described by the group as “an artistic and spiritual exploration of Torah text, of personal and artistic journeys.”

Works in various media will be on display, including collage, paint, silk and other fiber, precious metals, beadwork, glass and photography.

ORA’s 12 members include Rosana Berdichevsky, Lynn Dorman, Leslie Elder, Robin Esterkin, Laura Joy Fendel, Diane Fredgant, Sara Harwin, Julie Hockley, Esther Liberman, Sharon Segal, Eddy Shuldman and Sabina Wohfeiler.

Located at 310 NW Davis St., the museum is open 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesdays through Fridays, and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

General admission is free on Thursday evening Feb 7. Otherwise, admission to the Oregon Jewish Museum is free for members and $3 for non-members.

Call the museum at 503-226-3600 to schedule group visits.
