Becca Bernstein miniature acrylics on display at Gottlieb Gallery
By Jewish Review
Becca Bernstein peeks through a keyhole to explore the question of what makes a life unique and singular. And, as a result, she creates over 100 tiny paintings of familiar and mundane things that become symbolic imagery for a person’s life-journey.
Her new series of miniature acrylic paintings can be seen for the first time at the Gottlieb Gallery, 220 SW Yamhill, Portland, Feb.7-29.
Most of the 100 mini paintings at the show are between three and twelve inches in size.
This group of tiny paintings is only one response to her question, “What makes a life unique?”
Part two is an installation in the lobby of the Portland Building where she creates a conceptual “final living space” and includes those objects she thinks people might choose to keep with them at the end of life.
The installation, “The Last Room” was created through a Regional Arts & Culture Council grant and can also be seen during the month of February.
Meet Bernstein at the Gottlieb Gallery Feb. 7, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
