JONAH STEIN
Jonah Ethan Stein was born Feb. 23 to Josh and Sheryl Stein of Portland. Jonah is the grandson of Stewart and Esther Stein of Leawood, Kan., and Marc and Marilyn Rosen of Lake Grove, N.Y.
ABIGAL WEINSTEIN
Jeff and Sherri Weinstein of Portland announce the birth of their granddaughter Abigal Lynn on Jan. 26. Abigal is the daughter of Brent and Julie Weinstein of Encino, Calif. Her great-grandmother is Charlene Weinstein of Portland. Abby joins her 2-year-old brother Aiden.
MARSHAL SPECTOR
Marshal Spector has joined the legal team of Yates, Matthews and Eaton, P.C. Spector has more than 18 years of experience with family law and in 2007 was honored as an Oregon “Super Lawyer.” Spector also was appointed to the State Commission on Children and Families and is chairperson of the Multnomah County Bar Assocaitaion’s “Court Care” Committee.
MADELINE NELSON
Madeline Nelson and family will be awarded the 2008 Stampfer Community Enrichment Award on May 29 at the Benson Hotel. Nelson has dedicated more than 25 years to Braille work for the blind at Temple Beth Israel and was the first sponsor of the Center for Ethics at OHSU. Her family is being recognized for the decades Dr. Isadore Brill, Nelson’s father, dedicated to the medical profession; the service her father-in-law Roscoe Nelson I, a lawyer, provided in the field of social justice; the pro bono legal services and philanthropic work Nelson’s late husband Roscoe Nelson II provided; the continued legal and community activism of son Roscoe Nelson III; and Roz Nelson Babner, Nelson’s daughter who helped found and operates the Community Warehouse, which provides housewares to low income families in the Portland metro area.
GARY GRENLEY
Gary Grenley has been elected to the Board of Directors of Oregon Court Appointed Special Advocates, a nonprofit organization assisting abused or neglected children in Multnomah or Washington counties. Grenley has been a CASA volunteer for about four years. Grenley has worked in the field of business litigation more than 30 years and is co-founder of the Portland firm Grenley, Rotenberg, Evans, Bragg and Bodie. He was also honored recently as an Oregon “Super Lawyer.”
JERRY BOEHME
A graveside service for Jerry Boehme was held March 3 at River View Cemetery. Mr. Boehme died March 2 at the age of 68. Originally from Milwaukee, Wis., Mr. Boehme had lived in Portland since 1979 where he worked for the Oregon Graduate Institute before retiring in 2000. Mr. Boehme had also been in the U.S. Army and had once worked at the University Radiation Lab for the University of California. After retiring he consulted at many area universities. Mr. Boehme is survived by his wife Suzanne Boehme; daughter Rishona Davene Boehme; and two granddaughters. Donations can be made in his honor to the Oregon Humane Society.
