Portland Jewish Academy preschoolers and Shirlee Lenske check out the new playground during a Shabbat celebration and playground re-opening ceremony March 14.
Lenske donated much of the money needed for the purchase. Additional funds were donated by many PJA families including three children in PJA’s Ganon (Transitional Kindergarten) who asked for donations to the playground in lieu of birthday gifts.
Babak Jabbari and his construction crew donated their time and took down the old structure and hauled it away and recycled what they could. He also helped to build the new structure along with many PJA parents and faculty who had a workday March 9.
PJA serves students from age 2 through eighth grade on the campus it share with the Mittleman Jewish Community Center at 6651 SW Capitol Hwy.
