Mintz to give Solomon talk

The Third Annual Gus and Libby Solomon Lecture presents Alan Mintz speaking on “Owning Our Culture: How Jews Can Thrive in 21st-Century America” at 7 p.m., April 10.
The lecture will be at the Native American Student and Community Center, Portland State University, 710 SW Jackson St.
Admission is free.
From his role in launching the alternative Jewish press as a student in the 1960s, Professor Mintz has written provocatively about the challenges of Jewish survival and the richness of Jewish culture.
He is the cofounder of two Jewish intellectual journals, Response and Prooftexts, and has authored or edited seven books. After 10 years as the Braun Professor of Modern Hebrew Literature at Brandeis University, Mintz has joined the faculty of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, where he holds the Chana Kekst Professorship in Hebrew Literature.
