By Jewish Review
The MJCC gymnastics team placed third All Around at the Shamrock Meet on March 16.
The trophy now on display in the MJCC Sportsplex was brought home by (from left, front row) Caitlyn Gitelson, Melissa Diamond, Lea Davis, Sophie Rubin, Rachael Diamond; (back row) Coach Melissa Burgess, Linoy Gavriel, Thea Dilullo, Hollynd Boyden and Elayna Caron.
The MJCC will host a meet “Tumble in the Bubble” on April 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., to which the public is invited to see the gymnasts in action. Approximately 40 girls in Compulsory Levels 4-6 are expected to compete. Burgess brings more than 20 years of competitive gymnastics training and coaching to her team of nine girls. One of the goals for the meet is to help raise $2,500 to replace the springs on the tumbling floor. Scores will enable gymnasts to qualify in the Compulsory Sectionals meet April 26.
In addition to the Girls Gymnastics team, the MJCC offers recreational gymnastics classes for boys and girls including adult-child toddler classes, Tiny Tumblers, Kindernastics and more. For more information, visit www.oregonjcc.org.
