Rabbi Joseph Telushkin returns to Congregation Shaarie Torah on April 6 for two lectures.
Named by Talk Magazine one of the 50 best speakers in the United States, Telushkin drew 250 to Congregation Shaarie Torah last April when he delivered the fourth annual Rabbi Geller Lecture.
Dinner begins at 5:30 and features a lecture entitled “Tzedakah is Not a Charity.”
Dinner will be followed by Telushkin’s main lecture, “The Jewish War: The Battle of Tolerance to Keep the Jewish People One, and How It Can Be Won.” This talk will deal both with the issue of the right of others to think differently than we do, and the actions we can take to make sure that the Jewish people remain one.
Telushkin is the author of “Jewish Literacy: The Most Important Things to Know About the Jewish Religion, Its People and Its History,” a best-selling book for two decades. His newest book, “A Code of Jewish Ethics: You Shall be Holy,” is a comprehensive presentation of Jewish teaching on the vital topic of personal character and integrity.
Telushkin was ordained at Yeshiva University in New York and pursued graduate studies in Jewish history at Columbia University. He resides in New York City with his wife and four children.
