The 230 people at Neveh Shalom’s Reach for the Stars auction (shown at right at silent auction tables) helped the congregation net in excess of $110,000, a record amount despite the congregation’s $9 million capital campaign.
“From early-childhood activities to our monthly Senior Lunch Brunch and everything in between, the money raised that evening is a crucial component of ensuring our growing programming,” said Jeff Katz, who co-chaired the auction with Monica Brenner.
This year’s auction was held at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center instead of at the synagogue because of construction taking place at Neveh Shalom. “The JCC was the obvious place for us to hold our auction as it is an extension of our Jewish home and community,” said Katz. Auction co-chair Monica Brenner added, “It was truly a wonderful evening full of energy and fun and we hope people will be talking about it for a long time to come.”
