In this multi-generational beginning djembe class, students will learn polyrhythmic African beats and djembe technique. Students will also become comfortable with creating their own rhythms, adding to a drum circle, beginning solo methods and ways rhythm can be used in Jewish spirituality. This is a women-only space. Taught by instructor Julie Lipson, who has degrees in women's studies and ethnomusicology from the University of Maryland. $60 for all six sessions or $80 for six sessions with drum rental.
