P’nai Or of Portland is holding a double mitzvah raffle—ticket sales support the Renewal congregation’s education program and the top prize of a Toyota Prius Hybrid aids tikkun olam (repair the world).

“Not since I left Northwest Jewish Environmental Project, have I been so excited about an opportunity which brings together both my Jewish and environmental values,” said Rivka Gevurtz, co-principal of P’nai Or’s Children and Family Program.

“We wanted to also do our part to increase awareness about climate change and caring for our world; so the prizes in this raffle are a great way to walk our talk,” she said.

The grand prize is a 2008 Toyota Prius Hybrid, courtesy of Lithia Motors; second prize is kayak lessons for four from Alder Creek Kayak and Canoe; and third prize is overnight accommodations for two or equivalent services at Breitenbush Hot Springs.

Tickets are $100 each or $180 for two. A maximum of 400 tickets will be sold. The prize drawing will be held at P’nai Or, at 6:30 p.m., June 8. Winners need not be present to win.
