In March, Jennifer Greenberg joined the Jewish Federation of Greater Portland as Special Events Coordinator, a part-time position.

Greenberg will work with federation staff and volunteers on creating and managing JFGP events.

“I’ll be working with all the volunteers who give their time and energy to the federation to help them carry through their vision for events and to tie the events into the federation’s mission,” said Greenberg.

Greenberg has lived in Portland 12 years. For the past three years, she served on the board of Congregation Shir Tikvah, where she also was education chair.

For the past eight years, as co-owner of JenElle Event Design and Flowers, she has helped people “envision a look and feel for a special event and then turn it into a wonderful event for their guests.” She said she will continue to work in her own business on weddings and bar and bat mitzvahs, but “federation gets my priority.”

Greenberg has a background in fine arts and design and taught high school art before deciding she wanted “something more creative and fun.” After a foray into floral design, she expanded into all aspects of events.

Greenberg said this year’s JFGP Annual Meeting at 7:30 p.m., June 12 at the Benson Hotel “is going to be a huge success.” Part of Portland’s Israel at 60 celebration, the event will feature a dessert buffet and remarks by Colonel Miri Eisin, Israeli foreign media advisor and former Israeli government spokesperson, who will share highlights of Israel’s first 60 years.

Greenberg said she looks forward to working with community members who have a vision for coming events. To reach Greenberg, call her at 503-892-7405.
