Clark County day camp adds preschool option

By Jewish Review

Clark County Chabad will offer a Mini Gan Israel day camp for preschoolers this summer. Children, aged 2 to 4, will be able to attend the only Jewish camp operating in SW Washington.

Similar to all programs organized by Chabad, Camp Gan Israel attracts Jewish kids from all or no affiliation. Full and part-time options are available for the camp, which runs from July 14 to 25.

Tzivie Greenberg, educational director of Chabad of Clark County, received several requests for a preschool camp from parents involved in the center’s highly popular Mommy and Me program. She said she hopes that a high level of participation at the Mini Gan Israel camp will justify the creation of a sustainable Jewish preschool in Clark County.

A sample day at Mini Gan Israel will include center time with art, sand and water-table play. During circle time, reading, music and movement will be introduced. Outdoor activities will include general playground, sports and water play with a splash pool and sprinkler. Preschoolers will also participate in food and baking activities.

Rates for a full week are $150 or $295 for both weeks. Alternatively, parents may register their children on a part-time, day-by-day basis. Part-time rates are $25 for a half-day session or $35 for a full day. Scholarships are available for children, aged 2 to 12, who attend either Camp Gan Israel or Mini Gan Israel.
