The Oregon Jewish Community Foundation and Mittleman Jewish Community Center announce the establishment of the new “Living Room Fund” to support Jewish groups that wish to hold meetings and events at the MJCC.
Established with initial funding from the Lois and Leonard Schnitzer Supporting Fund of the OJCF and the Lora and Jim Meyer Family Fund of the OJCF, the Living Room Fund will enable more Jewish organizations to hold meetings and events at the MJCC by subsidizing rentals. The fund will be administered by the OJCF.
All Jewish groups are eligible to apply for funding.
“We want to make this process as easy as possible,” says MJCC CEO Lisa Horowitz. “All we ask is a one-page letter describing the organization’s mission, the specific meetings or events for which subsidy is sought and the amount needed. We’ll review the submissions and make a recommendation to the OJCF. All Jewish organizations are eligible and encouraged to apply for anything except for fundraisers.”
The Fund’s founders hope that other donors will join them in contributing to make the MJCC more accessible to all Jewish groups.
“We’re delighted to start this fund and hope that others will join us in making contributions to help Jewish organizations meet at the MJCC,” says Jim Meyer. “The MJCC is truly the living room of our community, and our contributions will support both the MJCC and the Jewish groups that will be able to hold meetings, lectures and other events at the MJCC.”
