Israeli choreographer Saar Harari will present a new choreography called “Geisha” at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art’s Time Based Arts Festival at Lincoln Hall on the Portland State University Campus on Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday Sept. 6 at 6:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 8:30 p.m.
"Geisha" is a sensual duet featuring Saar Harari and Jye-Hwei Lin, accompanied by spoken and sung text by Harari’s wife Lee Sher. Harari, a recent Guggenheim fellow, uses dance to explore his history as an Israel soldier with a lean and visceral choreography.
Harari’s appearance is made possible by the New York-based Six Points Fellowship for Emerging Jewish Artists. The Six Points Fellowship is a partnership of Avoda Arts, JDub Records and the Foundation for Jewish Culture, and is made possible with funding from UJA-Federation of New York.
Tickets range from $20 to $75 and may be purchased online through Ticketmaster and at the PCPA Box Office: 1111 SW Broadway. 503-248-4335.
