A discussion group based on Wendy Mogel's LA Times bestseller, "The Blessing of a Skinned Knee," will meet monthly for the duration of the school year. Harriet Saturen, a teacher and childhood development consultant, will facilitate the discussion group. Stauren has 35 years of experience working with children and families, holds a master's degree in counseling and has worked in both public and private practice.
Please read the first two chapters of the book before the first meeting. In addition, complete the following reflection assignment: Look at a photo album with pictures of you when you were your child's age. Try to recall your natural interests and passions at that time. Think about how the expectations of your family and the environment you were living in helped these inclinations flourish or wither.
$36 per family. Open to members and nonmembers. Call the Temple Emek office to register at 541-488-2909. Temple Emek Shalom, 1800 East Main St., Ashland.
