Rabbi Arthur Zuckerman shows members of Congregation Shaarie Torah how to feed a calf and then takes them on a hay ride at Plumper Pumpkins farm. Religious School students and some parents took a field trip to the farm to celebrate Sukkot, a harvest holiday.
During his nearly eight years in Israel, Zuckerman lived on two kibbutzim and one moshav, spending five years working with a dairy herd. He said he had a tractor license before he got a driver’s license. Zuckerman joined Shaarie Torah Aug. 15 as the traditional synagogue’s interim rabbi. Education Director Dorice Horenstein supplied umbrella hats and ponchos for the trip to the Kessinger family farm, which is open to the public daily through Halloween.
