Beginning in early October, Congregation Beth Israel will be offering an adult learning course entitled “Living and Dying: Bioethics from a Jewish Perspective,” taught by CBI Senior Rabbi Michael Z. Cahana.
“As medicine and science progress and humans live longer and longer, we are confronted with many decisions about medical treatment, research, life and death,” said Cahana. “What does Reform Judaism say about these issues? How are we to decide?”
The community is invited to join Rabbi Cahana for a fascinating four-week discussion.
The classes are scheduled on four consecutive Tuesday evenings: Oct. 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Pollin Chapel of the Schnitzer Family Center (1972 NW Flanders Street).
The four-part course is open to the community.
The cost for all four classes is $18 for Beth Israel members and $36 for non-members. To register for the mini-mester, contact the main Temple office by Oct. 6 at 503-222-1069.
