Portland author Floyd Skloot is a finalist for the Oregon Book Awards Stafford/Hall Award for Poetry.

The winner of two previous OBAs, Skloot has been nominated eight times for the award.

Skloot was shortlisted this year for the prize for his collection “The End of Dreams” from Louisiana State University Press.

A prolific novelist, essayist and poet, Skloot’s sixth collection of poems will be published in September of 2008, also by the LSU Press.

Between now and then, his selected poems, what he considers the best of his first five collections, will be released by Tupelo Press, a literary publisher in Dorset, Vt.

Skloot’s first OBA came in 2001, also for poetry. He won again in 2003 for creative non-fiction.

Winners will be announced at the Literary Arts OBA ceremony Dec. 2 at the Portland Art Museum.

Tickets are $15 and are available at www.literary-arts.org or by calling 503-227-2583.
