The 2007 Hanukah Holiday Gift Fair is about “more than just driedels,” according to the Portland Chapter of Hadassah, sponsor of the fair.

More than 60 vendors are expected for this year’s event, scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Congregation Neveh Shalom.

Shoppers can indulge in delicious latkes and baked goods from Hadassah, the Women’s Zionist Organization of America, while browsing through artwork, clothing, jewelry, toys and more.

Portland children’s author Eric A. Kimmel will be autographing his books from noon to 2 p.m. during the fair. Kimmel won a National Jewish Book Award in 2004 for his Passover book, “Wonders and Miracles.” His book “Hershel and the Hanukkah Goblins” received a Caldecott Honor Medal.

In 2005, the Association of Jewish Libraries awarded Kimmel the Sydney Taylor Lifetime Achievement Award for the body of his work. This award has only been given five times with I. B. Singer being the first to receive it.

Vendor spaces are still available, and vendors are encouraged to register for full ($65) or half ($35) tables. Volunteers’ support is also needed; to volunteer, contact Portland Chapter of Hadassah.

For more information or to reserve space, contact Hadassah at 503-244-6489 or info@portlandhadassah.org.
