After its independence in 1948, Jewish musicians from Baghdad and Cairo immigrated to Israel. The Arab-Israeli wars put them in conflict with their cultural identity and Cafe Noah was the only place where their music continued. Furthering the exploration into Cairo's music culture, "Taqasim," filmed on location, tours the treasures of Middle Eastern music and the collaboration of Jewish musicians. Guest speakers Massoud Kahlil and Shmuel Eden will address the audience after the screenings. 7 pm. Free to attend. Part of the Sephardic Winter Film Series. Ahavath Achim, 3225 SW Barbur Blvd. 503-227-0010.
