Hosted by the Hollywood branch of the Multnomah County Library, "Modern Marvels" is part of the reading and discussion series called “Let’s Talk About It: Jewish Literature – Identity and Imagination.” The five-part series explores Jewish literature and culture through scholar-led discussions of books on a common theme. The first session will meet Jan. 8 to explore "A Contract with God" by Will Eisner. Additional books will be discussed once per month at the library: "The Complete Maus" by Art Spiegelman Feb. 12; "Julius Knipl, Real Estate Photographer" by Ben Katchor March 11; "The Quitter" by Harvey Pekar April 8; and "The Rabbi’s Cat" by Joann Sfar May 13. Associate Professor of English and Humanities Dr. Laura Leibman will lead the discussion. Registration begins Nov. 23; register for each session individually.
