The tradition of this annual Hanukkah concert began about 10 years ago. Mazel Tov—a klezmer band—will perform Hanukkah songs as well as a classic klezmer repertoire, Latin arrangements of Yiddish favorites and some experimental jazz arrangements of Jewish melodies. The band, which has been playing for Portland audiences since the 90s, includes bandleader Sammy Epstein, pianist George Mitchell, trombonist Stan Bock and vocalist Carolyn Joyce.
