Community-wide event welcomes all women to gather and study primary texts about Miriam the prophetess, whose activism and leadership were instrumental in shaping the destiny of the Israelites. Workshops include “Miriam Also Died by a Kiss from God,” which will explore a short text by Rabbi Kalonymus Kalman Shapiro; “Multi-media Miriam,” which will consist of a demonstration of a multi-media collage based on themes from the Biblical story of Miriam; “The Merits of Miriam According to Midrash,” which will explore Miriam’s mixed reputation in the Torah; and “The Biblical Miriam Through the Eyes of Contemporary Israeli Authors,” which will include the work of Yocheved Bat-Miriam and Hava Pinhas Cohen.
