Made in Israel store closing this month

By Jewish Review

Massada, created in January 2004 to market products made in Israel at a time of curtailed tourism, is closing its doors in Hillsdale by the end of December.

“The store was not a profitable enough business to spend our energy on,” said Stan Davis, who with his wife Marlene is the majority owner of the store and its affiliated wholesale business.

Davis will continue to operate Apex Trading, which sells Israeli-made products to gift shops across North America. Apex represents Israeli merchants such as Safed Candles, Andreas Meyer Glassware, Essence of Jerusalem (oils and perfumes), Caspi Silver and several other small vendors.

Until Massada closes in the third or fourth week of December, Davis said all merchandise will be sold at half price.

Massada, located at 6351 SW Capitol Highway (in Hillsdale), can be reached at 503-546-9137. Hours are noon-6 p.m. Monday-Thursday and noon-4 p.m. Friday and Sunday.
