Author of the best-seller "From Generation to Generation," Arthur Kurzweil will lead a series of weekend workshops. A long-time book enthusiast, Kurzweil studied to be a professional librarian, was editor-in-chief of the Jewish Book Club for 17 years and currently serves as publisher for Parabola, a quarterly magazine. He is also the author of "Kabbalah for Dummies," "The Encyclopedia of Jewish Genealogy" and "My Generations: A Course in Jewish Family History." The first workshop called "Let My People Know: Talmud in the 21st Century" will take place at Havurah Shalom at 7:30 pm. Saturday's workshops start with "Shattering the Order of Your Existence" at Havurah Shalom at 9:30 am; "I Can't Read Hebrew, I Never Went to Yeshiva, but I Want to Study Talmud" at Shaarie Torah at 2 pm; and "Kabbalah: What's the Big Secret Anyway" ($20) at Shaarie Torah at 7:30. Sunday's workshops include a patron brunch ($150) at a private residence from 10 am-noon; "Searching for God in a Magic Shop," a class for kids ages 11 and up ($8), at Shaarie Torah at 1 pm; and two genealogy workshops ($42 for both)starting at 3:30 pm and 7 pm at Shaarie Torah.
