GEORGE SIDELINE
Author speaks on Japanese experience
By Jewish Review
George Sidline speaks about his experiences as a child living in Japan during World War II at a gathering at the Clay Tower Apartments. Sidline based his talk on his book “Somehow, We’ll Survive,” which was reviewed in the July 1, 2007, Jewish Review.
Sidline presented the talk at the request of Emily Aulicino, who teaches people how to write memoirs or childhood memories at various locations in Portland, including Loaves and Fishes and Portland Community College. The gathering also drew attendees who know Aulicinio through her work with DNA and genealogy as the NW Regional coordinator of the International Society o f Genetic Genealogists.
An engaging and humorous speaker, Sidline drew chuckles several times from the 20 or so people in the audience. Following the presentation, several audience members purchase autographed copies of the book, which is available at Powells, Annie Blooms and Broadway Books.
